TECHIR® is a Romanian brand born from a bold idea rooted on the shores of Lake Techirghiol: “Why shouldn’t the founder’s hometown, Techirghiol, have its own cosmetics line using its unique natural resources?” This question led to the creation of TECHIR, the first and only Romanian brand of therapeutic and cosmetic products enriched with saline water and sapropelic mud from Lake Techirghiol.
The concept began in 2011 during business studies in Bucharest, initially as a thesis, then becoming a real entrepreneurial project supported by family, mentors, and a young team. In 2014, the first products were launched after three years of research, international partnerships, and investment.
Today, TECHIR means clean formulas, artisanal care, and a commitment to well-being all while showcasing the therapeutic and touristic potential of the Techirghiol area.
Food for Skin at the 2025 World Food Gift Challenge
In 2025, TECHIR represented Dobrogea at the World Food Gift Challenge in Sicily, presenting the “Food for Skin” concept through its handcrafted Food for Skin Gift Set. The set includes cold-process soaps made with goat milk, honey, pollen, saline water, and mud from Lake Techirghiol, along with kale, rooibos, and turmeric extracts.
This approach offered the international jury a new vision of Romanian creativity: a world where nature and skincare come together, grounded in Dobrogea’s culture and rich natural resources.
Lake Techirghiol: Resource, Inspiration, Identity
Lake Techirghiol is Romania’s largest salt lake, located between the resorts of Eforie Nord, Eforie Sud, and the town of Techirghiol. With a salinity of over 90 g/l, its water and sapropelic mud are renowned for their therapeutic and regenerative properties.
The mud contains a unique mix of minerals and organic matter from aquatic life and has been used for decades in spa treatments. Scientific studies dating back to the 19th century highlight its benefits for rheumatic, dermatological and respiratory conditions.
